The Chamber of
Commerce and Industry Frankfurt (Oder) (CCI) is a public, self-administrative
organisation. Among the 81 German Chambers of Commerce and Industry it is
one of three chambers in the county of Brandenburg. It attends chiefly to
companies in East Brandenburg. All companies are required by law to join an
CCI in Germany. The only exceptions are handicraft businesses, professions
and farms. The CCI Frankfurt (Oder) speaks for more than 35.000
entrepreneurs in East Brandenburg including large companies, retailers and
innkeepers as a principal representative of all commercial undertakings in
the region. Therefore the CCI Frankfurt (Oder) has considerable political
influence and represents the interests of its members in dealings with state,
regional and local authorities. The CCI Frankfurt (Oder) as a member of the
Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) as the
central organisation is also able to act on behalf of its member companies
in relation to the German Federal Government and the European Commission.
Besides the representation of company interests the 3 CCIs in Brandenburg
issue certificates of origin, carnets and set vocational training
examinations. As a recent innovation, they maintain a register of companies
who meet specific environmental standards ("eco sites"). They place experts
under oath, provide advisory opinions for government departments, and are
involved in the appointment of arbitrators and the registration of companies.
The CCIs are independent public corporations and
are responsible for running their own affairs as business institutions and
do not operate as public authorities. They not only perform public functions
but assist their members directly as counsellors or mediators in business
matters of local, regional and supra-regional importance. The CCIs do
support and promote local businesses and help them to access international
markets. It is also a source of information about regional economy, business
locations, grants, training and more.

a large educational centre not only for our region. The school has had a
long tradition aimed on educational fields machine engineering, electric
technology, civil engineering and economy. There has been an intention to
keep all these departments. With assistence of a lot of foreign partners new
educational methods and forms used in Europe have been introduced. The
school arose after a transformation from a classic secondary apprentice
school, which was meant as an educational institution of SHD/coal mining

history goes to 1946 when new apprentice branches started appearing in
mining companies. In 1991 the school gained the law subjectivity and became
an institution established by the state During short time there were a few
promoters/always ministries/. A radical change happened in 2001, when the
school became the allowance organization of Usti region.

It was founded
in 1969 by the Danish Labor Movement. It is a modern and flexible centre for
conferences and seminars. It has 18,500 square meters, two hundred bedrooms,
all with individual phones, showers and toilets. Ninety of these can
accommodate two persons. The college offers a wide variety of training
courses for trade union members within the framework of the Danish LO (TUC)
education system. The college takes on development of tailor-made training
for private or public enterprises as well as local unions and has, with
around fifteen full time tutors, the potential to lift almost any task in
adult education. Lo-skolen is also widely used for Danish and international
seminars and conferences of all kinds. The permanent
teaching staff is approx. 15 persons, but as much of the teaching is based
on the unions staff much of the teaching is done by them.
There is no direct link to the VET System, as the school primarily focuses
on adult education of shop-stewards and other representatives for the
workers, both national and international. The content thus is mostly related
to work-environment, quality of life, co-determination and the broader
political issues in the work-place and in the labor market. |
| Special experiences in the sector Mechatronic or IT? |
The school has
great experiences in IT as far as that is part of the participants normal
working and political engagements.
There are no experience in Mechatronic as this education does not exist in

The project work together
with two companies, five unions, and schools in the VET-system and the

Centre for conferences and adult
education
Lo-skolen is an educational institution with close ties to
the Danish labour movement. It is a modern and flexible centre for
conferences and seminars. It has 18,500 square meters, two hundred bedrooms,
all with individual phones, showers and toilets. Ninety of these can
accommodate two persons.
The college offers a wide variety of training courses for trade union
members within the framework of the Danish LO (TUC) education system. The
college takes on development of tailor-made training for private or public
enterprises as well as local unions and has, with around fifteen full time
tutors, the potential to lift almost any task in adult education. Lo-skolen
is also widely used for Danish and international seminars and conferences of
all kinds.
The college is beautifully situated in a park by the sea. From the college
you will find there's an excellent view of the sea, and the surrounding
woods and golf courses. The college is in itself a piece of art, originally
designed by Danish architects Jarl Heger and Ebbe and Karen Clemmensen in
1969. The same architects have carried out all later reconstruction so that
the design of the whole institution, from the general concept, the ceilings
of large rooms and down to details such as chairs and lamps, has the same
mark of quality and taste.
The college has one of Denmark's finest collections of modern Danish art
with several hundred unique paintings and sculptures. Any visitor will feel
how this goes hand in hand with the design of the house and the nature
surrounding it.
The college has three beautiful large conference rooms, fully fitted with
the newest technological equipment, grand piano etc. The largest of them has
250 seats. There are twenty-two classrooms with ten to eighty seats and
tables, and a modern computer room with first class computers, today's
standard in communication. A computer classroom with sixteen computers can
be reserved (extra). There is a high quality library with access to networks
and an international section with newspapers and literature in English. All
classrooms have extra rooms for group work and spread around the college
you'll find countless corners or informal meetings and cosy get-togethers.
The seminar staff or trainers have offices at their disposal.
During their leisure time, no one should be bored at Lo-skolen. Every
Monday, the college arranges a cultural evening with, for instance, theatre
or music for anyone to join. You can entertain yourself with many
activities, e.g. table tennis, billiards, skittles, and saunas, or by using
the neighbouring golf courses (extra). There are a number of 'in-house pubs'
at the college, where you can meet other students; or you can reserve one or
more pubs for a special arrangement e.g. a late dinner, dancing, or
partying...
Lo-skolen is situated on the outskirts of the medieval town of Helsingør (Elsinore),
known for its fourteenth century castle, Kronborg, made famous by
Shakespeare's play Hamlet. North Zealand with its numerous sights,
historical monuments and beautiful nature is within range for half or full
day excursions (guided tours can be arranged). A one-hour drive by bus or
train takes you to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. You can ask the
college to arrange any tour to your taste. |
